
Birdwatching at Anawilundawa Wetland
The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Puttalam district in the North Western province of Sri Lanka . .Anawilundawa has a uniqueness to its area because it has three vastly different eco systems. The mangroves and the freshwater tanks where makes its one of the six RAMSAR wetlands in Sri Lanka. Birds species may have observe the Anawilundawa Sanctuary. Stork-billed Kingfisher, Pied kingfisher White-bellied Sea-Eagle, Grey-headed Fish-Eagle, Chestnut-headed Bee-eater, Blue tailed Bee - eater, Oriental Darter, Brahminy Kite, purple Swamphen , Malabar Pied-Hornbill, Brown-headed Barbet, Black-hooded Oriole, Black winged Stilt, sandwich Tern, Little Tern.

November to April is the best period and July and August also recommended months.
