Horton Plains National Park is the Highest Located National Park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka where elavation above 2,000 meters above sea level. Located from 30 kilometers south of Nuwara Eliya.Covering an area of 31.6 km² which features the mix of Highland Cloud misty forest and wet grassland with Recording the Lowest annual tempertaure between 20cc - 5cc.During the Anicent Sinhalesh Kingdom era knows as " Maha Eliya Pathana " common English means by Great Open Plains. The island’s second and third tallest peaks—Kirigalpotta and Totapola Mounation also Located in this park and The Birthplace of three of largest Rivers of Sri Lanka Names by Mahaweli, Walawe and Kelani. The Wildlife Habitat of Horton Plains is Home Of Common and Iconic Mammals of Sambara Deer which largest Deer Species of Sri Lanka and Apex predator of Srilanka Rare Highland Sri Lankan Leopards. There are 87 Birds species habituated of srilanka Including the endemic Bird and Endemic Rare Lizards, Amphibians and Many Floras. Horton Plains is the Home of important Bird habitats where is home to 87 bird species. Which many species not only endemic to Sri Lanka but restrict to the Horton Plains. Such as Ceylon White Eye, Yellow Eared Bulbul, Ceylon Whistling Thrush, Sri Lankan Bush Warbler and Dull Blue Flycatcher and Sri Lanka Wood pigeon only Endemic in Horton Plains. Migrant birds such as the Alpine swift, pied Bushchat, Mountain-hawk eagle and Black-winged Kite. Crested serpent eagle.
