    The Knuckles Mountain Range, also known as the Knuckles Forest Reserve or Sinhalese name " Dumbara Mistiyawatha" also mean of " the valley of Misty " is a mountainous area in central Sri Lanka, straddling the districts of Matale and Kandy. It covers an area of approximately 81 square miles The Knuckles Mountains are covered, with 34 peaks ranging from 900m to 1900m in height and more than 50 of waterfalls & cascades. The name ‘Knuckles’ was given to the area by early British surveyors, who decided the undulating peaks and folds of the most prominent five mountains resembled the knuckles of a clenched fist. However local Sinhalese people refer to the area as Dumbara Kanduvetiya or Dumbara Hills, which means ‘Mist-laden Mountain Range’. The Famous and Highest Hills of the Knuckles where five peaks, Kirigalpoththa, Gombaniya,Meemure lakegala,yahangala , Dumbanagala etc. The Knuckles Forest Reserve is the protected area that covers the whole of the Knuckles Mountain range. Along with Horton Plains National Park and the Peak Wilderness Forest region, it forms Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. The nearest major city is Kandy, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) or two hours drive to the southwest. Other, towns around the edges include Matale , Rattota, Udu Dumbara and Rangala. The Knuckles Mountaion Range was collectively declared a Natural World Heritage Site in 2010. The Knuckles 5 Peaks Trail, climbs 1890 meters past a variety of landscapes, flora, and fauna up and across the 5 peaks that give the range its name. Although often covered in fog and cloud, the peaks offer beautiful views over Sri Lanka and are not heavily trafficked. when 300 meters from the trailhead there is an option to visit, and shower in Knuckles Falls. This a protected tropical mountain wilderness with a variety of fragile ecosystems, should get permit from the forest department is required to enter the park.

    November to April is the best period to Trekking of Knuckles five peaks to and July and August also recommended months.

    • It is advisable to wear appropriate clothing, shoes, and separate gears to suit these environmental conditions.

    Arriving at Knuckles Five peak Trail entrance by 7.00 a.m.

    Briefly Explanation about the trekking

    Starting the trekking by 7.15am

    Knuckles Five Peak trail is one of Hard & challenging trails which leading 9km both way route ,will take 3 hours for one way

    Refreshments time and Relaxing at 2nd peak of Knuckles five peaks.

    Trekking back to same route around 1.00 pm reach the same starting trail head.
