
Thotupola Mountain Trekking in Horton Plains
Horton Plains National Park is the Highest Located National Park in the central highlands of Sri Lanka where elavation above 2,000 meters above sea level. Located from 30 kilometers south of Nuwara Eliya.Covering an area of 31.6 km² which features the mix of Highland Cloud misty forest and wet grassland with Recording the Lowest annual tempertaure between 20cc - 5cc.During the Anicent Sinhalesh Kingdom era knows as " Maha Eliya Pathana " common English means by Great Open Plains. The island’s second and third tallest peaks—Kirigalpotta and Totapola Mounation also Located in this park and The Birthplace of three of largest Rivers of Sri Lanka Names by Mahaweli, Walawe and Kelani. The Wildlife Habitat of Horton Plains is Home Of Common and Iconic Mammals of Sambar Deer which largest Deer Species of Sri Lanka and Apex predator of Srilanka Rare Highland Sri Lankan Leopards. There are 87 Birds species habituated of srilanka Including the endemic Bird and Endemic Rare Lizards, Amphibians and Many Floras. Totapolakanda is the third highest mountain in Sri Lanka situated in Nuwara Eliya district 2,357 m (7,733 ft) above mean sea level. The mountain is located within the Horton Plains National Park. A trail to the top of the mountain, about two kilometres long, starts a few metres away from the Pattipola entrance to the Horton Plains National Park. Most parts of the mountain surface is covered with shrubs adapted to the cool and windy climate of Horton Plains National Park. The well maintain trail of Thotupolakanda mountain is covered of Montane Cloud forest path and open grass as shrubs are common among them.

December to April is the best period to visit Horton Plains are February to end of April and July and August also recommended months visit in the Horton plains.

Itinerary
Arriving at Horton Plains Pattipola entrance by 7.00 a.m.
Brifly Explanation about the trekking
Starting the trekking by 7.30am
Thotupola trail is an easy trail which leading 8km both way route ,wil take 1 1/2 hours for one way where through the mountain cloud Forest and pigmy Forest path.
Refreshments or Breakfast time and Relaxing at top Thotupola
Trekking back to same route around 12pm near the Pattipola Entrance.
