    Adam’s Peak is 2304 metreshigh and located 18km northeast of Ratnapura, the capital of Sabaragamuwa province.where is well known for the Sri Pada Sinhala means“Sacred Footprint”, that is 67 incheslong and 18 wide and resembles the print of a human foot. History of Adam's peak back to 2100 years to the reign of King Valagambahu (104 – 76 BC) who made the discovery of the sacred foot print during his exile in the mountain wilderness. Now days Adam's peak is venerated by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians, and Muslims. Many pilgrims of all faiths visit the peak every year. The trails and traditions along these routes are as old as time itself, with legends so hoary that history has no knowledge of them. The primeval forest which surrounds the peak is known as the peak wilderness, the grandeur of its ruggedness and its rushing waters falling from dizzying heights to form stunning waterfalls. Off season climbing of Adam's Peak is more rewarding as you will not have any human contact but is considered extremely hazardous during the monsoon season from May to August. December to May is considered the season of Adam's Peak. There are Trails of Climbing up the Adam's peak Hatton - Nallathathiya Route to Adam's Peak (7km) This being the most popular trail and Many Locals & foreigeners climbing ub useing this rotue.the trail leads 7km of one way it is well paved for the most of the way and where the trail climbs up are always aided with well laid cement steps. during the trekking when passing the pagoda of japan peace temple ,resting point of seethgangula mean of meaning icy-river a ideal place to chill but mind you the water is super cold from idikatupana getting on steepst 2km called " Mahagiridambe til summite of Adam's peak. Kuruwita-Erathna route to Adam's Peak: (12km) Thistrail follows through forests and abandoned Tea fields therefore its broader though note that except in most difficult of places steps aren’t available. Passing “waranagala” one could see the Waranagala falls which best seen during off season, across the bridge and trail along the right side of the forest which brings you to the rocky bed of the water fall and several inviting water pools. After pass the “Ambalama” or the resting place at “seethagangula” meaning icy-river a ideal place to chill but mind you the water is super cold. Around 09km or so from the starting point you’ll find the next resting point known as “Idikatupana” a great place to witness the sunset. another trail leading from Ratnapura - Palabaddala Route at “Galwangediya” resting point. Rathnapura - Palabaddala Route - (8.5km) One of old trail where Rathnapura - Palabaddala Route leads the 8.5km throuth the lush green lowcountry forest path, according the History long times ago Aceint Kings have used this old route climbing up Adam's peak,passing the few resting point of Galwandiya and Gajamansala where called Elpehants croessed the Forest near this place.after have meet the one of placees where birth place of one of longest river srilanka called ' kalu Ganaga ".
