Manigala Hiking

Manigala Range is located the Knuckles Conservation Forest,With a peak hight is 1,104 meters above sea level, which 750-meter length,and a 250-meter width stands as one of nature’s most magnificent creations,also at a distance of 38.7 km from Matale it offers a unique blend of breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and fascinating history. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this region boasts Sri Lanka’s highest biodiversity among its mountain rangesManigala is a mountain in the Knuckles Mountain Range,situated near Pitawala Pathana in the village of Atanwala Illukumbura. Manigala is a historically significant mountain which is believed King Ravana’s flight landed on Manigala about 7500 years ago; thereby, this mountain is also called ‘Ravana-thenna’. The mountain has another speciality to mention. In ancient times, villagers used the shadow of Manigala Mountain to determine the time of the day and which name of manigala also Tamilian word of 'Mani 'known as 'Time. .
